WAKE UP CRYING

Sometimes I wake up crying

Don’t remember a thing

Wonder what kind of hell

Is going on in my dreams

My languished heart

My tired mind

Are well worn mementos

Of a want beyond this life

If death is but a sleep

And the grave be our bed

Lay me down as soon as You can

I could use some rest

Say what you want

Say what you mean

It don’t matter much

If it don’t mean anything

Our eyes wander

Like a drunk in the streets

Our conversations

Are like blacked out memories

No point in remembering

Everything and everyone

We’re all so touch and go

I know there is so much more

Beyond the tangible

We’re promised more

Than we could ever dream

There’s a room prepared

For each and every sheep

No matter what dark

Or shade in waking speaks

All pales to a future hope

A present peace

Find joy in suffering

If death is but a sleep

And the grave be our bed

Lay me down as soon as You can

I could use some rest

If death is but a sleep

And the grave be our bed

We will wake to meet again

And finally be wed
